The Opportunity

An Indian multinational pharmaceutical major wants to improve its New Product Development performance. The client had embarked upon defining new processes and structure to facilitate improving time for marketing their products targeted to the US market.  The need was to increase the number of new product launches and reduce lead times, through:
  • Development of first generation project mangers
  • Alignment of organizational structure and supporting function  including executive functions to the objective

Solution/Service

A detailed assessment of the challenges at the operational level was carried out to identify PM capabilities required across four business units of the organization.

A 360 degree PM competency assessment was done to identify and select the first generation Project Mangers for development at the organization. Customized interventions was then designed after selecting the Managers suited for Pharma NPD in general.

An 18-day certification program along with pilot implementation was delivered. Mentoring and Coaching, facilitated the participants to map the learning to the real environment.

Along with this, intervention was designed and delivered for the functional heads to enable the new PM structure and role. A "Converting Strategy into Action" intervention was designed and delivered for the Senior Management team which included the CEO and the Business Unit Heads and President.
To sustain the initiative, training programs were conducted for internal "train the trainer" and to align the team members working on NPD projects. An e-learning content solution was designed and developed to take care of large scale capability deployment. Series of prototype and proof-of-concepts were shared to provide direction to the IT enablement of the new PM function and structure.
